Since Romain Taupenot took over this domaine in 1998, quality has been progressing continuously, making him one of the rising stars in Burgundy. The Auxey-Duresses appellation is a source for some inexpensive Pinots and Romain’s style of wine is elegant rather than powerful. This has lovely, precise and delicate red cherry and violet notes. The fine-grained tannins are in balance with the aromatic red fruit palate and it’s fresh on the finish.
`The 2015 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru comes from two parcels in Les Duresses and Les Grands Champs. It has a very satisfying bouquet with lifted blackberry, briary and light earthy notes. There is a light floral note developing. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, very well balanced with tart red cherry and cranberry leaf, nicely structured with a brisk, lively finish.` 89-91 – Neal Martin, robertparker.com
